We've Come Undone
This one-woman live theater piece written and performed by Kayhan told the stories of women post-9/11 in the wake of fear, division, and the scapegoating of Arab, South Asian, and Muslim Americans. A series of moving monologues from a young girls' bewilderment at her father's disappearance, to an INS agent's rant, to a Sikh woman's humorous conversation with an arsonist, the characters' truths aim to enlighten, activate, and inspire. The performance included post-show interactive dialogues with audiences to explore and process their experiences and offer interventions toward their envisioned future.
The show toured colleges and community spaces in the U.S., was performed in Montreal, Canada and Lahore, Pakistan, and earned mentions in the N.Y. Times, The Washington Report on Mid-East Affairs, Colorlines/Race Forward Magazine, and the N.Y. Daily News.
